1. About this policy
This policy explains how JAK Investment Group Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 82 703 569 886, ACN 703 569 886) ("we", "us", "our") collects, holds, uses and discloses personal information. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and this document is our APP privacy policy for the purposes of APP 1.
2. What we collect
We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our activities. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include:
- your name, email address and any other contact details you choose to give us;
- the content of messages you send us, including details about a business, property or proposal;
- information about your organisation and your role in it;
- information needed to enter into or carry out an agreement with you.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive information (such as health information or information about racial or ethnic origin). If you send it to us unprompted, we will only keep it where the law allows.
You may deal with us anonymously or under a pseudonym where that is practicable, although we usually need a name and email address to reply to you.
3. How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you, most often when you email us or use the contact form on this website (which opens your own email app). We may also collect information from public sources, such as business registers, or from people you have authorised to deal with us on your behalf. If we receive personal information we did not ask for, we will deal with it as required by APP 4.
4. How we use it
We use personal information to:
- reply to your enquiry and keep a record of our correspondence;
- assess and discuss a business, property or partnership opportunity;
- prepare, enter into and manage agreements;
- meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations.
We do not sell personal information and we do not use it to send marketing material. If that ever changes, we will ask for your consent first and give you a simple way to opt out.
5. Disclosure
We may disclose personal information to our professional advisers (such as accountants and lawyers), to service providers who help us run our email and website, to parties involved in a transaction you have asked us to consider, and to government bodies where the law requires it. We expect each of them to handle the information appropriately and only for the purpose it was given.
6. Overseas disclosure
Our website hosting and email services may store or process data on servers located outside Australia. Where personal information is disclosed overseas, we take reasonable steps under APP 8 to ensure it is handled consistently with the APPs.
7. Cookies
This website does not use advertising cookies, analytics tools or tracking scripts, and it does not ask you to create an account. Our hosting provider may record standard technical information, such as IP addresses and browser type, in server logs used for security and reliability. We do not use that information to identify individual visitors.
8. Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including restricting access to those who need it. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires, and then destroy or de-identify it.
9. Access and correction
You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or misleading (APPs 12 and 13). Email us with your request. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days, and if we refuse a request we will tell you why in writing.
10. Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please email us first with the details. We will acknowledge your complaint, look into it and respond in writing, normally within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), the national regulator for privacy.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
12. Contact
Privacy questions, requests and complaints can be sent to ceo@jakinvestmentgroupaustraliatec.site.
